One panel depicts communication between technological components that send messages, specifically the Central Processing Unit. Linda Liujas “Journey Inside the Computer” described this piece of hardware as one that tells other components what to do, however one that is unable to store much information. The second panel depicts neurons firing in the brain. In a Mike Ludwig article entitled “How Your Brain Cells Talk to Each Other” he describes how neurons make connections between other neurons to form networks. Neurons pass chemical and electrical impulses to other neurons which could be described as whispering, however recent studies show that neurons are also capable of what is basically a public service announcement, by releasing chemicals of other parts of the neurons, including the dendrites themselves.
The white etched lines overlap and intertwine between the two layers, creating a conversation between biological and technological code.
