This carving is based on my partner who was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder. More specifically, it’s a reflection on the extreme manic episode that I was present for. The figure on the right represents the fury and violence of his mania contrasted with the figure on the right, which depicts the moments he was able to calm down and breathe. I used chisels for cutting out large portions of wood, and the foredom for detail work.
