This self portrait was made as a reflection of the stress of 2020 which challenged me in ways that I couldn’t have imagined, and made me feel incredibly vulnerable. It sheds light on the literal and metaphorical act of mending what is broken to find a sense of newness. Sculpture proposes issues of physics and material choices which I love troubleshooting, but the simplicity and quietness of painting is healing to me.
